Aberdeen provides ample recreational opportunities with two 18-hole & one 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, city hiking trails, one of the state’s largest soccer and softball complex, Aberdeen Family Aquatic Center, hunting, fishing, and three lakes within minutes of the city. Wylie Park features Storybook Land, the Land of Oz, Wildlife Exhibits, Thunder Road, Thunder Mountain Mini-Golf, Wylie Water World, camping, walking & biking trials, and Lake Minne-Eho. |

Culture
The Aberdeen Recreational and Cultural Center (ARCC) was established by Aberdeen to provide cultural and recreational activities to area residents. A wide variety of events and activities are held including arts, crafts, dramatics, and dance. The Dacotah Prairie Museum hosts a number of exhibits highlighting the prairie heritage of days gone by. The museum’s Lamont Gallery hosts six shows annually featuring local and regional artists. The Aberdeen Community Theatre, Aberdeen Area Arts Council, and Community Concert are well-known and valuable sources of culture and fun. |

The Lakewood Mall, a comprehensive shopping plaza features over 40 stores, food court, nine-screen theater, full service restaurant/lounge, and indoor play land. Historic Downtown Aberdeen shopping consists of several superior stores offering everything from quality furnishings, salon services, women’s clothing and boutiques. Recent shopping additions in the Aberdeen area include the new Super Wal-Mart and the newly expanded Menards. |

Schools (k-12)
Aberdeen has both a Public and Catholic School System available to its residents. The new Aberdeen Central High School was built in 2003 and is one of the best facilities in the state. |
